Since Central Coast Blue is a regional project, the project team includes stakeholders from throughout the Five Cities communities. Central Coast Blue stakeholder agencies, which include the South San Luis Obispo County Sanitation District (SSLOCSD), the Cities of Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach and Grover Beach and the Oceano Community Services District, are working collaboratively to implement the project.
Central Coast Blue was originally kicked off as a result of the City of Pismo Beach’s Recycled Water Facilities Planning Study in 2015. The effort became a regional project in 2016 through collaboration with the SSLOCSD and its member agencies, the Oceano Community Services District and the Cities of Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach. Since then the project has been a joint effort driven by all the Central Coast Blue stakeholders.
The current vision for Central Coast Blue is that the first phase of the project (Phase 1) will include construction of an Advanced Treatment Facility and injection of flows from the Pismo Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant and that Phase 2 will include expansion of the Central Coast Blue facility to treat and inject flows from SSLOCSD’s Wastewater Treatment Plant flows.
